Now before you completely freak out, keep in mind
that i have never tattoo'ed anyone's name on me, nor would i
remove my current tattoos. My tattoos are symbolic to me in the
sense that they represent a turning point in my life. But hey that's
just me.
The point of me starting this thread is that i came across some
research in regards to "erasing your memory" and it got me thinking.
We all know that there is technology to remove tattoos like laser machines.
So my first question is how many people out there have had someone's name
tattoo'ed on them and did you decide to keep it after the relationship ended.
My second question is IF you removed it would you take it one step further and
erase that person from your mind if science allowed such a thing.
Right now doctor's dispense pills w/propanolol that work effectively if used
right after a traumatic event. But what if they could advance such medication
to a point where you could literally erase bad memories. Would YOU erase your
ex?
I ask this because i see removing a tattoo as a very extreme measure,so why not
just remove the person associated w/those memories from your brain...
Oh and by the way Im not high off meth or super stoned, just thought i
would share my "food for thought".
im good at forgetting past relationships, so not a big deal to me. as far as removing tattoos, i have a bunch of tattoos for my wife, i dont really think about removing them cause breaking up really isnt an option we entertain, ever. glad i didnt get any ink for relationships until after i got married though.
i know that many people have scarring memories, and would be better off without memory of certain moments in their life. but then again, isnt that what makes us human? i dunno, would be easier, but would it be right? case by case basis i guess.
yeah it's definitely a controversial subject.
in all the information that i have read, they
seem to say the same thing,"memories are what
make us human,so what happens when you take that away?"
currently the drug is being used on soldiers, trauma victims
and people that work in that kinda field like paramedics.
i found it all to be interesting. trust me there's nothing more
i'd love to do then forget some of my ex's and memories, but at
the same time i like to wear my heart on my sleeve and show my
war wounds,if you will. so i might be more inclined to go a
tattoo as part of my learning process of life. this subject
really make you think about the past. it's all that we know
and we as human beings rely on the past to guide is through
are future. there's a really good movie called "time machine",
i think, and i concentrate's on that exact point. what would
happen if we never knew about the past?
